Citizens Opinion Panel

Privacy Policy

Last updated 28 October 2026

This policy explains what Citizens Opinion Panel does with information when you use citizensopinionfoundation.com and the list of paid opinion opportunities you bought.

Who we are

We are a private company, not a government agency or program, not an election authority or regulator, and not affiliated with or endorsed by any government body, political party, campaign or candidate. Our domain contains the word “Foundation” and our brand contains the word “Citizens” because what we do is show ordinary citizens where to get paid for their opinions. Neither word means anything official. Nothing we send you is a notice, a benefit, a grant, a ballot, a voter registration or a government payment, and no part of what we do is carried out on behalf of any public body.

What we collect

We do not collect your answers to anybody’s survey, because the surveys are not ours. We do not ask how you vote, we do not ask about your voter registration, and we have no interest in either.

What we do with it

We use what you tell us to give you access to the list, to match the list to where you live and who you are, to answer your emails, to handle refunds, and to keep our own accounting records. Where you have bought Done-For-You Setup, we also use the details you gave us for that to fill in and submit applications in your name, and to set up your payout details with each company — that is the service you paid for, and it is the only time we hand your details to a company on the list.

Information we do not want

Do not send us bank login details, passwords, or copies of identity documents. If a panel on the list needs a tax form or an identity check of its own, you give that to them, on their site, not to us. Nobody from Citizens Opinion Panel will ever telephone you to ask for a payment, a password or a one-time code — if someone does, it is not us, and we would like to hear about it.

Who else is involved

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We may use analytics and advertising measurement so we know which of our advertisements work. Where we do, it measures visits and purchases in aggregate; it is not used to build a political profile of you. Your browser’s own controls and any consent banner you are shown let you limit this. Small page-state values, such as an offer timer, are kept in your own browser so a page behaves consistently when you reload it.

What we do not do

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not build advertising or political profiles about individual members. We do not tell anyone how you personally answered anything — we do not have it to tell.

Keeping and deleting information

We keep your membership record, what you told us for matching and your payment history while you are a member and for as long as we need to for tax and accounting purposes. To see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete your account and personal details, write to [email protected] and we will act within 30 days. Records held by Explodely are subject to Explodely’s own retention rules, and details already submitted to a panel on your behalf are held by that panel under its own rules — you would need to ask them directly to delete those.

Children

This is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Security

Pages are served over an encrypted connection and payment details go straight to Explodely rather than to us. No system can be promised to be perfectly secure.
