Earnings Disclaimer
Last updated 28 October 2026
Citizens Opinion Panel sells you a list of places that pay people for their opinions. Those companies pay you, not us. We do not guarantee that any of them accepts you, that you will earn any particular amount, or that you will earn anything at all. Please read this page before you buy.
Nobody at Citizens Opinion Panel pays you money. What you earn depends on which companies on the list accept you, how many opportunities are open where you live, how many of them you actually do, and what each company pays. None of that is under our control. Buying the list does not produce income by itself.
What our figures actually mean
Three numbers appear across this site, and they mean one specific thing each:
- $18.20 is the average pay for one paid opinion job on the list — the going rate across the opportunities we list, paid by the outside company running it. Some pay less than that and some pay a great deal more.
- 7 is the number of paid opinion jobs open on the list at the moment.
- $127.40 is seven jobs multiplied by $18.20 — what today’s open jobs pay in total.
$127.40 is therefore a description of what is on offer from other companies today, not a daily wage, not an average member earning, not a target and not a promise, and not money we hold for you. Nobody is guaranteed seven open jobs, and an opportunity closes once the company running it has enough people. Some weeks there are more; some weeks there is one.
Getting accepted is the companies’ decision, not ours
Almost every panel, focus group and research company screens the people who apply. They look at who they need for a particular study — age, area, household, whether you use a product — and they turn down far more applicants than they take. We tell you where to apply and how to apply properly. We cannot make anybody accept you, and no upgrade on this site changes that, including Done-For-You Setup, which submits the applications for you but does not decide the outcome.
Any example is an illustration
Every number, example, screenshot, scenario, case study and testimonial on this site is an illustration of what is possible, not a prediction of what you will get. Examples are not typical results and must not be treated as average results. Some material on this site is dramatized and may use actors, synthetic voices or synthetic imagery.
Your results depend on you and on things nobody controls
What anybody earns depends on how many opportunities are open for their area and their profile, how quickly those fill, how many they choose to apply for and complete, how honestly and completely they answer, and on demand from the companies commissioning the research. That demand rises and falls with the news cycle, with election calendars and with the general economy. None of that is in our hands or in yours, so we cannot and do not predict your results.
Answers have to be your own, honestly given
The companies on the list pay for genuine opinions, honestly given, by the person who signed up. They routinely refuse to pay, and close accounts, where answers are clicked through without reading, submitted by software, duplicated across accounts, or given by somebody else — and their rules, not ours, apply to that. There are no wrong opinions; there is such a thing as a dishonest answer.
Testimonials
Where a testimonial appears, it describes one person’s experience. It is not a claim that you or anyone else will have the same experience, and it is not evidence of typical results.
Not professional advice, and it is taxable
Nothing here is legal, tax, accounting or financial advice. Money an outside company pays you is income and is taxable. Keeping records, reporting it and paying what you owe is your responsibility.
Who we are not
We are a private company, not a government agency or program, not an election authority or regulator, and not affiliated with or endorsed by any government body, political party, campaign or candidate. Our domain contains the word “Foundation” and our brand contains the word “Citizens” because what we do is show ordinary citizens where to get paid for their opinions. Neither word means anything official. Nothing we send you is a notice, a benefit, a grant, a ballot, a voter registration or a government payment, and no part of what we do is carried out on behalf of any public body.
What we do guarantee
The one thing we guarantee is your money back. Every purchase carries a 30-day money-back guarantee, no reason needed — see the Refund Policy.
